Paying monthly
Some names can be paid for over 3 to 24 months instead of all at once. Here is exactly how it works, what it costs, and what happens if something goes wrong.
An example
A name at $2,400 paid over 12 months:
- First payment, today (20%)
- $480
- Then each month for 10 months
- $174
- Final month
- $180
- Total you pay
- $2,400
480 + 174 × 10 + 180 = 2400 US dollars. Add it up yourself: it comes to the price of the name, exactly.
No interest and no fees. The total over a plan is exactly the price of the name. Paying monthly never costs you more than paying at once.
Prices are fixed in US dollars. Other currencies are a guide only and move with exchange rates. Payment plans always run through escrow.
How it works, step by step
- Choose a name that offers a planNames that can be paid monthly carry a Payment plan label. You can also filter for them on the browse page.
- Pick how long you want to pay over3, 6, 12, 24 months. A shorter plan means bigger payments but less time until the name is yours.
- Send the requestConfirm your email with the six-digit code we send, and your own private deal page opens. Nothing is agreed and nothing is charged yet.
- Last Founder confirms the planWe check the name is still available and reply personally with the exact amounts and dates in writing.
- Pay the first instalmentThe deposit is 20% of the price. Everything runs through Escrow.com, so you are never paying into thin air.
- Pay each monthSame amount, same day each month. Your deal page always shows what is paid and what is left.
- The name becomes yoursAfter the final payment clears, Last Founder transfers the domain to your registrar account and the sale is complete.
The honest part: what you need to know before you start
- You do not own the name until the last payment clears. Last Founder holds it for you and takes it off the market, so nobody else can buy it while you are paying.
- You cannot use the name during the plan. It cannot point to your website until it is transferred to you.
- If you stop paying, the plan ends and the name goes back on sale. What happens to the money you already paid is set out in the plan terms, and is agreed in writing before you start. Ask us anything you are unsure about first.
- Missed a month? Tell us before the date, not after. We would far rather move a date than end a plan.
- Plans are not credit. Last Founder is not a lender, there is no interest, and nothing is reported to any credit agency.
- Once the plan finishes and the name is transferred, the sale is final, like any other sale on Last Founder.
Names you can pay monthly
No names offer a plan right now. Browse everything, or ask us to find you a name and mention that you would like to pay monthly.
Still deciding?
A plan suits you if the name matters more than owning it today. If you need the name live this week, paying at once is the better choice.
